The Three C’s: Community, Character, & Competition This tournament is built on three pillars. Each team identifies a charity or non-profit from their Community to play for. Coaches emphasize Character, but the tournament remains a play-to-win Competition.
Where the Money Goes The tournament is presented by Woodstock Youth Hockey and the Woodstock Varsity Hockey Boosters (both Vermont 501c3s).
50% of all funds raised will be awarded to the winning team’s chosen charity.
The remainder supports Woodstock Youth Hockey’s commitment to providing low-cost, high-quality programming.
The Fundraising Requirement This is a fundraiser first. To ensure a real impact, we have instituted a $1,000 minimum fundraising goal per team.
While we don’t expect coaches to do the heavy lifting, we need you to impress upon your families that this is a requirement of entry. Every hockey experience has a fee; in this case, we simply give half of it to charity.
How to Reach the Goal: To make this easy and involve the players, we suggest:
The Player Kickoff: Collect $25 from each player to build an immediate foundation.
Team Sponsorships: Seek a local business sponsor to cover the balance and offset costs.
Why Participation Matters Last year, fundraising was unbalanced, with one team contributing less than $150. This year, we want 100% buy-in to keep the "kids helping kids" spirit alive. To keep things interesting, we’ll be building some healthy competition around the fundraising totals!
The Upper Valley’s hockey community is extensive. Each year, we fill Union Arena as this tournament grows into a premier local event. Corporate sponsorship is a powerful way to demonstrate your business’s commitment to LOCAL student-athletes and the "kids helping kids" mission.
Each team is required to reach a fundraising goal of $1,000. To achieve this, teams may secure a "Team Sponsor" or collect a $25 contribution from each player. These funds are vital; they cover the cost of uniforms, ice time, and officials, with 50% of the net proceeds going directly to the winning team’s chosen charity.
